This 350Z first arrived here with plans on only doing an engine swap, which then later translated to a few other things such as having a carbon clutch made by CARBONETIC installed.

The Carbonetic Clutch Single is designed for use in regular and light-tuned vehicles. Installing the latest technology, Carbonetic has improved the material and surface treatment of both the clutch disk and pressure plate. It delivers nearly double the torque of a conventional clutch, with a maximum static torque of 100KG/m (1,600KG clamping force + CCM). You will experience excellent performance at half clutch for easier street driving. The CC composite also provides dramatic weight reduction and improved synchronization during shifting.

REPLACING YOUR CLUTCH THE RIGHT WAY

The day has finally come where I part ways with the Exedy Stage 2 clutch. Ideal for every day track use and NOT every day use! The combination of the insane weight and how it is either fully engaged or disengaged made it easy to say goodbye. An Exedy Stage 1 and flywheel would be used this time around. A Stage 1 would be good enough for the two to three times that I would track a year, in return I gain 362 days of driving enjoyment. With the transmission separated, old clutch and flywheel out, it is always a good idea to replace the clutch fork and pivot ball. Looking forward to driving again.

Notes:
EXEDY organic racing clutches only use premium friction materials that are resistant to slippage and burst. Increased clamp loads give the necessary capacity to handle modified engines. This is the preferred clutch for street and light horsepower track use. Driveability is similar to the stock clutch. Pedal efforts will be slightly higher because of the higher clamp loads. All of our clutch discs have spring center dampers to reduce drivetrain shock.

EXEDY Racing Flywheels are made from solid one piece billet chromoly steel forgings. They are specifically designed to reduce weight and inertia for better engine response.
Most incorporate special design features to enhance air flow to improve the cooling of the clutch. The ring gear teeth are milled onto the flywheel unlike an aluminum flywheel where the ring gear is pressed onto the flywheel and have the possibility of separating from the flywheel.

MUGEN COPPER FIBER CLUTCH SYSTEM

This particular kit is made in Japan for all S2000 model years.

The new Copper Fiber Clutch System from Mugen offers substantial performance gains over the OEM unit. In addition to increased performance and durability, this complete kit gives a much more direct feel.

As the name implies, the clutch disk is impregnated with copper; this provides much more stability and friction for high-performance applications. The disc has stiffer springs than OEM, as well as the elimination of the cushioning plate.

The pressure plate is considerably stiffer, and the surface is Mugen’s proprietary steel.

The flywheel is a lightened unit, with a super-durable face.

This kit is an incredible 13.7 lbs. lighter that OEM and reduces spinning inertia by 42%.

Comes complete with: clutch disk, pressure plate, flywheel, pilot bearing, release bearing, and ultra-strong flywheel and pressure plate bolts.
