ATS&ACROSS 4.929 FINAL GEAR

Prior to, a brand new USDM ITR transmission was ordered. Aside from the 4th, 5th and final gear, it is completely identical to the JDM 98-spec trans. Listed here are the gear ratios for both trans.

USDM ITR transmission gear ratio:
1st: 3.230
2nd: 2.105
3rd: 1.458
4th: 1.107
5th: 0.848
Reverse: 3.000
Final Drive: 4.400

JDM 98-spec ITR transmission gear ratio:
1st: 3.230
2nd: 2.105
3rd: 1.458
4th: 1.034
5th: 0.787
Reverse: 3.000
Final Drive: 4.785

Having the closer 4th and 5th gear was defiantly a plus, however the potential was limited by the 4.400 final gear found in the USDM trans. Solution? That was easy, we replaced it with a 4.929 final gear from ATS&ACROSS. Increased acceleration and response is noticed from this new setup.

New transmission with ATS&ACROSS 4.929 final gear @ 9000rpm:
1st: 3.230 – 63.47Km/h
2nd: 2.105 – 97.38Km/h
3rd: 1.458 – 140.61Km/h
4th: 1.107 – 185.19Km/h
5th: 0.848 – 241.74Km/h
Reverse: 3.000
Final Drive: 4.929

Four months may not seem to be a long time in one’s life, but when those 4 months are spent away from home, that’s a whole different story. Thoughts of home start to cross your mind day after day, and the feeling of nostalgia becomes permanently embedded in your mind. You start to realize how the most simplest things in life are so satisfying. That’s exactly how i felt being away from home.

Tonight, i had the chance to revisit one of those simple things in life. It was the popular late night activity we often participate in. Another photo-shoot session was in order…..KTL MEDIA X THE GREEN CAR. Being optimistic, we decided to check out the new speed skating arena that is being built for the 2010 Winter Olympics. To our surprise, there was sufficient lighting. Why at night? Why not. It’s the quietest time of the day. The mind is clear and focus, creativity follows. enjoy.

Another track day, perhaps the last event at Pacific Raceways this year. This time around only one of the two DC5s attended. Already averaging 1min45sec at the July event, David had only one objective, to break 1min40sec… Screaming in all the corners, the Yokohama ADVAN A048s could not keep up with how the DC5 wanted to perform. Averaging 1min42sec, it is obvious with the no grip factor the DC5 can do better.  But how much better? Can the 2 seconds be saved with full racing slicks? Possibly?

At a young age, Japan to me was probably the coolest place on earth…this mysterious land seemed almost surreal. Not only is It home to some good ass food, but it was where many of my unforgettable childhood toys such as Tomica die cast cars, Tamiya and Gundam models, and the always stellar Dragonball Z etc. originated from. The lust to visit Japan grew as I became a honda owner and enthusiast. This summer I decided to take advantage of the 4 hour flight from Hong Kong to Japan to not only get a glimpse of a whole new lifestyle, but to visit a friend who has now been in Japan for the past 3 years.
