EP3 UNDERGOING JDM K20A SWAP
Remember this EP3 that was here over the summer for the JDM 5 lug conversion? Well it’s back to complete the other part of the JDM-ness, that’s right, the K20A and all it’s glory.
Preparing of the JDM K20A.
Currently sitting somewhere outback in the dump.
Buddy club sports shifter box.
Buddy club header.
Hasport rear engine mount, again… highly encouraged with the used of a race header.
Buddy club spec 3 exhaust system, sounds just like the old DC5 🙂
TODA RRC INTAKE MANIFOLD AND THROTTLE BODY
Here some literature taken from TODA RACING Co.
Increasing the diameter of the throttle and in combination with a tapered entrance helps to increase the amount of air the engine can breathe, giving improved performance.
Dimensions of throttle valve are 66.5mm up from 64mm for the valve diameter and the tapered entrance starting at a diameter of 70.4mm. All built-in parts are new. No trade-in is required so you get more performance and a new throttle assembly.
The power graph shown above compares a stock throttle with the TODA Big Single Throttle when fitted to the TODA Racing FD2 CIVIC (2150KIT) demo car.
Improvements in performance of up to 7 H.P. have been made.
The FD2 Civic Type-R Intake Manifold (RRC) is the highest flowing intake manifold for K-Series engines. The RRC intake manifolds performance is further increased by being meticulously hand ported by TODA Japan engine technicians. These are not regular production items, and made to order. Delivery times range from 4~6 weeks.
TEIN STREET ADVANCE DAMPER
The Street Advance damper is the evolution of our popular Super Street coilover. Developed to provide a sporty ride feeling and aggressive stance, along with wide-range damping force adjustment using our new Advance Needle technology, giving the driver a much more noticeable feel in damping force change. The shortened shell case design provides optimum damper stroke at lower than standard vehicle ride height. Vehicle ride height is adjustable via the ZT coated threaded sleeve. Updated internal components and external coatings increase durability and product life. Street Advance dampers are great for daily driving and spirited driving for all types of drivers.
Made in Japan under strict quality control standards and developed by highly trained suspension engineers.
• Steel Construction
• Twin Tube internal construction
• Larger piston diameter for strut type front and rear (22mm)
• 16-way Damping adjustment with over 200% increase in damping force change.*
• Ride Height adjustable via spring seat
• Powder coated damper body
• Non-welded ZT coated Adjustment Tube
• Full-Length Dust Boots
• 1-piece Aluminum Spring Seat with Delrin Thrust Washer
• Available for Overhaul
• 1-year Manufacturers Defect Warranty
*over comparable Super Street damper, based on damping dyno graph data. Increase in damping force over comparable Super Street damper may vary for specific vehicle applications.
NSX POWER PLANT AND MANY MANY RED BAGS
It has been one thing after another here as of late, however we have not forgotten about the NSX. With the engine already dropped out and most of the parts here, it will be any day now that we start on this rebuild. On the agenda we’re looking at a complete rebuild from top to bottom along with the transmission being cracked open for gearing changes. It should be fun times… and if you are wondering what was wrong with the engine before? Nothing, this is something that you should do if you love your car!
ALL-ITALIAN CAR & VEHICLE SHOW & BBQ
MAKING A HONDA CIVIC SI (FG2) FUN
Exedy Stage 1 clutch kit with Exedy lightweight flywheel.
Honda K-series 5.0 final drive kit – Increase your vehicles acceleration by replacing the final drive unit with this genuine OEM Honda K-series 5.062 final drive kit.
Hasport rear mount – Highly suggested for all K-series with aftermarket header, this will reduce any premature wear/damage to the flex pipe.
As it is, the Honda Civic Si (FG2/FA5) is a great car to drive. And like any great platform there is always room for improvements. The golden rule for all real K-series engines is FLOW! Intake, header and exhaust, get some girth going in these departments. The bolt ons alone will not prove to be anything spectacular at this point, you still have to get your car thinking right. Remember, you car still thinks it is using the factory intake, header and exhaust. It still needs a proper tune. For that we have always looked to HONDATA (K-PRO/FLASHPRO) to get the job done.
2012 GERMAN CAR FESTIVAL
Rather than saving the best for last, let us start with yesterday’s show stopper… Mr. Jaeckel’s Porsche 997 GT3 RS 4.0 was possibly the prettiest of all the cars there.
This is definitely not the last time we will see of this beauty, play again soon.
The German Car Festival traces its routes back many years to when it was a Porsche Club show and shine outing to support a local charity.
In 2002 the event formally became the German Car Festival as Ron Dempsey worked to bring the BMW, Porsche and Mercedes clubs together to host the event.
The event has grown and become popular as a summer show and shine for the various authorized German car clubs. Those are the ‘brick and mortar’ clubs that are sanctioned by the manufacturer, and now include not only our BMW Car Club of BC, but the local Porsche Club of America – Canada West Region, the Mercedes-Benz Club of America – British Columbia Section, and the Audi Club of British Columbia.
As can be expected from such a diverse group, there will some very interesting cars participate in this event both new and old.
THE MINI-MINIVAN
As the car sits today, below is a shot taken from 2 years ago.
